Jean-Claude Rateau
Jean-Claude Rateau comes from a Burgundy winegrowing background and is the son of an entrepreneur. In 1979, he set up his own winegrowing estate from a few family vines. He gradually expanded the estate to its current 8 hectares. From the outset, he has been involved in environmentally-friendly viticulture, helping to establish it at local and regional level by collaborating with researchers such as Claude Bourguignon (a soil microbiologist). Passionate about the concept of terroir, he vinifies each parcel (15 parcels, planted in 12 different terroirs) with the aim of obtaining expressive wines with great ripeness, offering the greatest pleasure right from the moment they are bottled. The estate has been biodynamic for 30 years and is certified organic (Ecocert).
